What patients say on Google
“DMV Psychiatric has truly set the standard for what exceptional patient care should look like. From the moment you walk into the office, you can immediately feel the professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail that the entire staff provides. Every interaction has been smooth, respectful, and welcoming. The office itself is incredibly clean and organized, scheduling appointments is effortless, and the responsiveness from the team is unmatched. What stands out most is the genuine level of care they give to their patients. You never feel rushed, overlooked, or treated like just another appointment on the schedule. They take the time to listen, understand, and tailor treatment to each individual’s needs. I especially want to recognize Dr. Oko Akrong, who is absolutely phenomenal. His ability to understand complex situations, think outside the box, and continuously seek newer and better ways to help his patients is rare to find. He is knowledgeable, compassionate, patient, and incredibly thorough in his approach. It’s clear that he genuinely cares about the well-being and progress of the people he treats. This practice has far exceeded my expectations in every way, and I can confidently say this has been one of the best healthcare experiences I’ve ever had. I highly recommend DMV Psychiatric to anyone looking for a provider that truly prioritizes patient care and excellence.”
“I love them. Faith was awesome she made me feel comfortable and explained everything. Banks is very attentive”
“The quality of the therapy itself has been excellent. Unfortunately, the issues I’ve experienced are with office operations and billing practices. On the day before my appointment (2/8), I received a call regarding payment for a bill dated 2/6 and was told I had until 5:00 PM that same day to pay or my appointment would be canceled. For clarity, I did not have a past-due balance. In both my personal and professional experience, I’ve never encountered payment terms that short. I’ve been seeing my provider for over a year, and this is the second time something like this has occurred. Previously, the same billing representative threatened to withhold sending my prescription unless a balance, one I had not even been billed for was paid. I reached out to my provider, the head physician, and the office manager, to share my experience with the hope of them making things right. Unfortunately, I did not receive a single response. This was very disheartening. For a practice that supports individuals with mental health needs, these billing and communication practices feel unnecessarily aggressive and stressful for patients. My hope is that the practice revisits its internal processes and makes changes that better reflect a commitment to patient well-being and respectful communication. I am thankful to have moved on and found a practice that better aligns with my expectations around patient care and responsible, reasonable communication practices.”
“Denied me treatment during a crisis. Refused to refill a necessary prescription due an unpaid balance. Their refusal to fill the RX led me to have a manic episode, and I had to be hospitalized. When I called to follow up after discharge, they still denied treatment. I expressed I was suicidal and they still denied treatment. If you care about your mental health, I would choose a more ethical practice. This is a direct violation of the code of ethics for the state medical board. In an acute crisis or medical emergency, a provider must provide care regardless of insurance or an unpaid balance. They have been reported, and if this happens to you I highly suggest you report them as well.”
